The panoply of monarchy, especially evident when there is a gathering of cardinals and bishops, along with the Holy Father's "kingly" emblems of office, should be relegated to the scrap heaps of history. A shepard's simple garb, more like the tunics of our monastic orders, might be a good way to shed a habit (in both senses of the word) that tends to send the wrong message to many, both inside and outside the Church.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
